Event Details

This session offers a snapshot of producing content for internet platforms, adapting traditional methods to new media, and where and how opportunities are evolving.

With programming expected to now have creative online back-up and traditional programming opportunities fracturing into the world of webisodes, videocasts and content that can be adapted for online and mobile screening, this is an exciting and challenging time.

There are many changes that are minor and some that require an adaptation to traditional programme making principles.

The session will be a practical and creative view for media freelancers looking to adapt from tradtional onscreen production to embracing, understanding and seeing the application of online, viral and mobile production. Using case studies and practical experience we will look at the ground-breaking cases of the last few years and at how to adapt and emerge shiny in the new world and able to work in broadcasting in its new forms.

Case studies will include:

  • 4Laughs
  • Wherearethejoneses.com;
  • The Well
  • Intimate Alice
  • Alan Partridge MidMorning Matters
  • Proper Messy

We will consider the production, budget and creative issues that need to be understood.

This session will be lead by Ric Michael, will be a lively and informative romp through the emerging world to help the development of confidence, understanding and knowing which skills need to be adapted.

Ric Michael was Head of Development at Baby Cow Manchester and an editor for groundbreaking Channel 4 website 4Laughs. He has worked on a range of new media content projects and is an experienced Development Producer and media trainer.
